This is Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion. It was built by a shogun many years ago, and it is plated entirely in gold. It's situated on a beautiful lake, and the grounds are simply gorgeous. I don't really have a whole lot to say about it, except to say that it was amazing. I guess I should let the pictures speak for themselves. The only other thing I have to say is that the shopping there was wonderful, I got a lot of nice gifts with a very oriental flavor, and they're of all different price ranges, from the inexpensive to the very expensive, whatever you're looking for.
